WHAT IS SKIN?

  1. The thin layer of tissue forming the natural outer covering of the body of a person or animal.
  2. An outer layer or covering, in particular.
The Body has been inspiration for design throughout history, not only because people fashion and design things based on their own image, but because functional, everyday objects come into contact with our skin. 'Humans invented technologies to supplement the inadequacies of the body's natural envelope. Chairs and Jackets, cups and spoons, buildings and cars, serve to extend and support the body, compensating for its failures and allowing it to survive in a world that is largely inhospitable to human life. The first Shelters and the first garments, made from animal skins, protected people against harsh climates, allowing them to cultivate ever- more hostile regions on the planet'.
The Skin is, in my opinion, the most delicate Organ on the Human body. We are constantly protecting it, possibly without even noticing. Every time we put on our clothes, wash and moisturise we are protecting our Skin.  Defending our skin against heat, cold, dirt, bacteria, infection, dryness, and wetness has become second nature to us.

There are numerous Skin types that people have, such as;
  • Oily Skin
  • Sensitive Skin
  • Dry Skin
  • Mature Skin
  • Normal Skin
  • Combination Skin
Everyone fits into 1 or more of these categories. Knowing your Skin type is essential. Products are designed to cater for a certain type of skin, so it is more beneficial and healthier for you.
